Holi Festival

AKA The Festival of Colors
Here's the run down.
Janey, Chad, Lauryn, and myself took a little road trip down to Spanish Fork to find out what it was all about.
What we found out was it is awesome.
The Festival is to celebrate the end of winter and the start of spring. To banish the Witch of Winter, or something along those lines.
We started out nice and clean in our white shirts.
We had to park a good mile or two away and then hoof it to the Krishna Temple from there.
Once we got there we made the smartest decision ever and didn't buy chalk, we then navigated our way through the sea of people until we got as close to the stage as possible.
At this point we were lovin the colors and the crazy people.
I felt like I was at a smaller version of Woodstock.
Every two hours they have "throwings" which result in a smoke/chalk cloud so big you can't see the sky or breath for a good 30 seconds.
We happened to be at the three o'clock session which also involved the burning of the Wicked Witch of Winter. Lots of "Burn the witch!" chants.
Right before the count down to the throwing of the chalk some, dude, got on stage and started preaching about how we are all individuals and no one is a carbon copy. Also, he said something about one brave monkey jumping across the sea so that we could all be here today.
The crowd went right along with his crazy antics and started yelling things like. "Live free! Die young!"and "Haddi Haddi Krishna!"

On the way out we finally found Emily and Karli. They had to stick around for the 5 o'clock session because they missed the one at 3 due to going some 60 miles in the wrong direction. They were still semi clean when we found them.

So. Much. Fun.
In other news, Janey turned 20! We celebrated Cafe Sabor style.
Also we had some good fun at the Nickle Cade recently.
And to finish it off I spent a Friday night doing this. You can get the background story to that adventure here a little more right here and then one more kicker here.

Awesomeness.

Man, I'm sad we missed each other and the burning of the winter witch. We missed the memo and went to the 1oclock throwing :)
