Grammy Jean

It all started on November 17, 2009.
There I was, on a school bus, headed to a Skyline girls basketball game when I got a phone call from an unknown number.
I didn't answer.
The unidentified caller left me a voice mail, so I listened.
It was, what sounded like, a very old woman singing Happy Birthday to me.
At first I thought someone was playing a trick on me, I mean my birthday wasn't far off... someone was confused.
But no.
After the little old lady sang Happy Birthday she said, "My little Lily. Grammy loves you sooo much. Bye bye sweetheart."
What?
We looked up the area code so see where "Grammy" was calling from.
Florida.
Crazy don't ya think? But hey it provided a good laugh and great voice mail that I hung onto until I got a new phone.

Then the unthinkable happened. On November 17, 2010 Grammy called me again!
She left me this...

I was shocked. Grammy from Florida was on the hunt for her "Little Lilly" again!
I had to call her back and let her know that I wasn't her granddaughter that she only talks to once a year. However I couldn't do it without laughing uncontrollably.
Thank goodness for Janey Orme.
She stepped right in and called Grammy.

Only five minutes later Grammy called back.

"I think you're my granddaughter probably."

In an attempt to help out our new best friend we Facebook stalked Lily. Once found we sent her this.

Hi my name is Morgan I'm from Idaho and for the past 2 years on the 17th of November your grandma has called ME to wish YOU a happy birthday. No joke. So I called her back and explained the situation and then, right after, she called me thinking I was you again. How she got my phone number mixed up with yours I will never know. I had a few conversations with her and she seems great, loves ya a lot, so I'm thinking you should call her and give her your real phone number.
This really has been the highlight of my day on the 17th of November for the past two years.
Happy Birthday "Little Lily"
Write me back and let me know if this is the right Lily :)

Lily wrote back with this.

Morgan! haha. oh man. I was dying laughing when I read this last week, but then completely forgot to write back.

This is beyond hilarious. I talked to her that night and she tried to explain to me what happened, but I was still sort of confused... she was too - she thought that she had sent my birthday card to the wrong address! But she didn't...

The weirdest part is, she calls me at the correct # on other days of the year... she must have it written down incorrectly in her birthday book or something.

Anyways... thank you for being such a good sport about it. Can't wait to tell the whole family about this at Thanksgiving. Another classic Grammy Jean story.

-Little Lily

Simply amazing. Something like this would only happen to me I swear.

The real ironic part of this story is that it is Grammy Jean - and your real Grandma Jean Carver has been known to make some silly mistakes before as well :)
Don't have too much fun over Thanksgiving without us. Take notes (and video) on what happens!

Here's what needs to happen. You girls take a cross country road trip to meet Grammy in person. Convince her you're not her granddaughter, and have several adventures together.

Also, when you get there Grammy still thinks your her granddaughter probably and all of you live happily ever after in Florida.

The end.
